Service Area

Our service area includes Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced, and Sacramento counties. If we cannot serve your child due to location we will always refer you to an office that can.

Our Patients

We treat patients from 1 to 10 years of age. Services are all administered under general anesthesia and include cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, crowns, and pulpotomies (root canals on baby teeth). We do not treat adult root canals.  

Insurance Information

We accept most Dental plans including Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal. If you need help paying for services your plan does not cover, we have other options to get your child the care they deserve.

How do I know if my child should be referred to a Dental Surgery Center?

*Is the patient unable to sit still for extensive dental treatment.
*When the surgical dental procedures require general anesthesia.
*The procedure needed is longer than a child of pre-cooperative age can sit.
*Patient is mentally/physically handicapped and requires general anesthesia for proper management.
*Patient is allergic to local anesthesia.
*Patient has a medical condition requiring medical supervision.
*Patient cannot be adequately anesthetized with local anesthetic alone.
*Patient suffers from acute dental fear or anxiety.

Preparing for Surgery

To begin the process of getting your child authorized for Dental Surgery we will need the following information:

Referral from your child's Primary Dentist explaining in detail the treatment that was performed and reason treatment couldn't be performed on your child.
Medical & Dental Health Plan cards, as well as the child's social security card
Once you have # 1-3 requirements, please call our office to start the process.
Pre-operative form filled out by child's Primary Care Doctor. If the child has not had a physical within the last year, your primary physician may require an in office visit. 

Patients with Special Needs

We schedule the patient for a General Anesthesia evaluation with our Anesthesiologist. Once the evaluation is completed, the anesthesiologist will then determine if it is safe to treat the patient in our facility or refer the child to a hospital setting.

Patients with Private Insurance

We will first schedule an appointment for a complete exam and x-rays with the dentist and ask that you bring any x-rays done in another office within the last 3 months. Our dentist will then determine a dental treatment plan to submit to your dental & medical insurance companies for approval.

Authorization Process

After submission, the authorization process can take up to 3-6 weeks for an approval or denial. The Medical Insurance Specialist will then contact you the day of the approval or denial. 

We will also notify you of any financial responsibilities such as deductibles, co-pays, or percentages that are not covered by your insurance company for the surgery date.

Day of Surgery

(Important Information Please Read Thoroughly) 

  
For safety reasons, the surgical patient must have an empty stomach before the operation. Surgery will be canceled if the instructions below are not followed. 

No solid foods (including chewing gum and candy) after midnight the night before.
No liquid foods (water, milk, Kool-Aid or juice) after midnight the night before.
Please remove all jewelry, make up, nail polish prior to appointment.
Patients need to wear a short sleeve shirt and loose fitting clothes.
Be prepared to be here for 3-6 hours for treatment to be completed.
 

What to Bring

(Failure to bring these items may result in delayed or rescheduled appointment)

Completed pre-op or well child exam form from primary physician. (Requirement if the child has a diagnosed medical condition)
All Medical and Dental insurance cards for the patient. (Health Plan, Dental Plan, State Benefits Card, etc.)
Patient Social Security Card.
Parent/Guardian picture ID.

A parent or guardian must accompany the child on the day of surgery.
If the legal guardian is someone other than the biological mother and/or father, the guardian must bring guardianship papers, court order, or a letter signed by the biological parent/s specifying consent for dental treatment and general anesthesia.
Since all our surgery patients cannot have anything to eat or drink, please be considerate and do not bring food or beverages into our waiting area/lobby.
Parent or guardian must remain on our premises while patient is in surgery.
